Statius Borcholten , also Borcholt (born March 1, 1569 in Rostock , † 1617 in Celle ), was a lawyer and chancellor in the service of Duke Friedrich Ulrich of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel .

Life

Statius Borcholten was the son of the law professor Johannes Borcholt and grandson of councilor Statius Borcholt (the elder). He studied law in Helmstedt , Rostock and Heidelberg , where he received his doctorate in law in 1595 .

At the end of 1595 Borcholten received an extraordinary professorship at the University of Helmstedt. Since he was not offered a full professorship, he took up practical work from 1604. First he was court counselor in the Justice Chancellery in Celle , then a privy councilor and finally in 1617 Chancellor in the service of Duke Friedrich Ulrich of Braunschweig in the government of the Principality of Grubenhagen .

Borcholten wrote several jurisprudential papers and published the collected judicial reports of his father Johannes Borcholt in 1600.
