The small waving frog ( Staurois parvus , from Greek stauros = cross, pole and Latin parvus = small) is a species of the genus waving frogs ( Staurois ) from the family of real frogs .

For a long time the little waving frog ( Staurois parvus ) was used as a synonym for Staurois tuberilinguis . According to Matsui (2007) , Starois tuberilinguis has only been considered a species of its own since the last decade .

distribution

Since it has only recently been listed as a separate species, little is known about the exact distribution area of the lesser winking frog. As far as we know, the species only occurs in the Malay part of Borneo . The two finds made so far were those by Inger and Haile on the Akah River in Sarawak Province in 1960 and by Matsui in 2007 on the Crocker Range in Sabah . They were carried out at altitudes between 750 and 820 meters above sea level . It is believed, however, that the species occurs more frequently, especially on the long distance between these two locations. In any case, he's common in the Crocker Range.

Habitat

It lives on the banks of small, clear, rocky streams in primary rainforests. You can usually find them sitting along rocks or in the middle of rivers, especially rapids.

behavior

The eggs are laid in the river. However, tadpoles have not yet been found.
