The fyr Stavenes is a beacon on the west Norwegian coast in the town of Averøy in Fylke Møre og Romsdal .
The beacon marks the entrance to Sørsundet and Kristiansund harbor .

historical development

The beacon was built in 1842 and was used from 1847 to 1854 as a refuge from storms on the coastal stretch called Hustadvika , which ultimately damaged the beacon. A new beacon house was built in 1894, which was modernized 13 years later. The house for the keeper, built in 1953, was connected to its own power grid using generators . The complete automation of the beacon was completed in 1976, which from then on left the beacon unoccupied.
