The Alnes fyr beacon is located on the north side of the western Norwegian island of Godøy in the municipality of Giske in Fylke Møre og Romsdal . The beacon has been in operation since 1852 and marks the entrance to the nearby town of Ålesund via Giskesund .
In 1982 Alnes fyr was automated. Since 1993 the facility has also been used as a cultural center for the community and region. Bridge connections and submarine tunnels to Ålesund Airport on the island of Vigra and to the city of Ålesund make Alnes fyr easily accessible to tourists and residents of the region. The beacon is therefore a popular destination in summer.
