Stavros Tziortzis

Stavros Tziortzis ( Greek Σταύρος Τζιωρτζής , born September 15, 1948 in Famagusta ) is a former Greek hurdler and sprinter .

In 1969 he retired from the European Athletics Championships in Athens over 400 m hurdles and in the 4 x 400 meter relay in the preliminary run.

He won over 400 m hurdles at the Mediterranean Games in 1971, finished sixth at the 1972 Olympic Games and fourth at the 1974 European Championship in Rome.

In 1975 he was at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Katowice fifth over 400 m and won bronze over 400 m hurdles at the Mediterranean Games.

In the following year he was fourth over 400 m at the European Indoor Championships in Munich in 1976 and reached the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in Montreal over 400 m hurdles .

At the European Championships 1978 in Prague he was eliminated over 400 m hurdles in the semifinals and at the Indoor European Championships 1980 in Sindelfingen over 400 m in the preliminary run.

In 1974 he was Italian indoor champion over 400 m.
