Chapel of Ste-Véronique

The Roman Catholic chapel Ste-Véronique in the hamlet of La Véronique , a district of Bannalec in the Finistère department in Brittany , has been classified as a monument historique since 1914 .

history

The chapel consecrated to St. Veronica replaces an older church, which was located about 200 meters south of the current location and was probably destroyed in the course of armed conflict in 1597. The new chapel was built between 1605 and 1610 by order of Baron de Kermeno in post-Gothic forms on the plan of a Latin cross. The sacristy was added in 1662. The chapel has three older stained glass windows from the 16th century.

The building was the filming location for the episode Breton Secrets of the crime film series Commissioner Dupin in 2019 . The plot of the novel and the film adaptation does not take place in Bannalec in Finistère, but further east in the Brocéliande forest near Rennes .
