Stefan Balicki

Stefan Balicki , with the pseudonym Raptus (born May 17, 1899 in Tschukwa near Sambor , † March 29, 1943 in Posen ), was a Polish writer and satirist .

Life

Balicki graduated from Sambor high school in 1917 and then studied at the theological faculty of Lviv University . From 1919 he served as a medic in the Polish army and took part in the Polish-Soviet war . At the University of Poznan he took up a degree in Polish Studies in 1921 , where he obtained his master's degree in 1925 . After passing the state examination in 1925, he taught at a private school in Poznan until 1939 . In addition, he edited the magazine Nowe Wici in 1926 and belonged to the literary group Loża from 1927 to 1928 . He also published in the newspapers Tęczy, Gazeta Polska and Dziennik Poznański and appeared in Poznan cabarets Różowa Kukuła and Klub Szyderców . With Jerzy Gerżabki he founded the small political theater Balger in 1935 . After the beginning of the Second World War , he worked briefly as a road worker in Wiry and then in the construction company Holzmann in Posen. In addition, he took part in underground activities of the Poznan cell of Związek Odwetu under the direction of Franciszek Witaszek and after his arrest on March 2, 1943 was imprisoned first in Fort VII in Poznan and then in Dom Żołnierza. He committed suicide on March 29, 1943 while in custody.
