Stefan J. Geibel

Stefan J. Geibel (* 1968 in Stuttgart ) is a German lawyer and professor at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg .

Life

Geibel studied law at the University of Tübingen , where he passed his first state examination in 1994. The second exam followed in 1996. He then worked as a lawyer for three years, including at Hengeler Mueller in Frankfurt am Main . In 2000 he returned to Tübingen to do his doctorate with Gottfried Schiemann , which he completed in 2002. In 2006 he completed his habilitation, also in Tübingen, with which he was awarded the license to teach in the subjects of civil law, commercial and corporate law and tax law. During a research stay at the University of Aix-Marseille , he acquired the title Maître en droit .

As a result, Geibel represented several chairs at the universities of Munich , Mainz , Konstanz and Dresden . In the meantime, he holds the professorship for civil law and secondary areas, in particular foundation law, taking into account his European and international connections, at Heidelberg University , which acts as a bridge professorship between the Faculty of Law and the Center for Social Investment and Innovations (CSI), of which Geibel is the scientific director , serves. Geibel is also one of the directors of the Institute for German and European Company and Business Law at Heidelberg University.

His research focuses in particular on civil law, foundation and non-profit law, commercial and company law, European private law, banking and capital market law and tax law. Geibel is also a member of numerous associations, such as the Association of Civil Law Teachers and the European Association of Tax Law Professors (EATLP), and he is a liaison professor at the German National Academic Foundation .

Stefan J. Geibel is married and has two children.
