Stefan Kopp

Stefan Kopp (born March 5, 1985 in Wolfsberg ) is an Austrian Roman Catholic priest, theologian and professor of liturgical science .

Life

After graduating from the Stiftsgymnasium St. Paul im Lavanttal , Kopp studied Catholic theology, religious education and art history at the Karl-Franzens-University in Graz until 2007 . In 2009 he received his doctorate in theology in Graz. From 2007 to 2012 he worked as a religion teacher in Wolfsberg, lectured liturgy in Graz and Klagenfurt at the same time and was ordained a priest in 2010 for his home diocese of Gurk . From 2010 to 2012 he worked as a chaplain in Wolfsberg. After that, Kopp worked as an academic advisor at the chair for liturgical science at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich with Winfried Haunerland .

Immediately after his habilitation in Munich in 2015, Stefan Kopp was offered the chair of liturgical science at the Theological Faculty in Paderborn . He heads the liturgy commissions in his home diocese of Gurk and the Archdiocese of Paderborn and is a member of the art commissions of these two dioceses. In addition to questions relating to pastoral liturgy, his research focuses on the history of liturgy in modern times, in particular the liturgy of the sacraments, basic research on liturgy and theology as well as the history and theology of liturgical space.

He succeeded Wolfgang Thönissen as rector of the Paderborn Theological Faculty in October 2019 .
