Rüdiger Althaus

Rüdiger Althaus (born March 27, 1961 in Kirchlinde ) is a German Roman Catholic priest , theologian and canon lawyer at the theological faculty in Paderborn .

Life

Rüdiger Althaus studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Paderborn and Innsbruck and received the sacrament of ordination in 1987 . He then worked as a parish chaplain and became a spouse defender in 1989 and a diocesan judge at the Archbishop's Office in Paderborn in 1994 . In 1999 he was appointed vice-official there. In 1995 he received his doctorate in the field of canon law and then taught as a lecturer for ecclesiastical property law at the Institute for Canon Law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . In 1999 he completed his habilitation at the Ruhr University in Bochum . His habilitation thesis is considered to be an inventory and trend-setting analysis of the changes that have resulted from the revision of the Codex Iuris Canonici of 1983 in Germany.

Rüdiger Althaus has been Professor of Canon Law at the Paderborn Theological Faculty since 2000 . From 2015 to 2017 he was rector of the theological faculty in Paderborn.

Rüdiger Althaus has been part of the metropolitan chapter in Paderborn since 2004 .
