Berthold Wald (born April 13, 1952 in Wipperfürth ) is a German philosopher and professor of systematic philosophy .

Life

Berthold Wald studied philosophy , German , pedagogy and Catholic theology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster . In Freiburg he joined the Catholic student association K.St.V. Brisgovia in KV . Wald received his doctorate in philosophy from the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster in 1986 . From 1986 to 1992 he worked as a university assistant, from 1992 to 1998 as a lecturer at the Philosophical Department of the University of Münster. In 1996 he was visiting professor at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome . In 2002 he completed his habilitation.

In 2002 he accepted the professorship for systematic philosophy at the theological faculty in Paderborn , which he held until 2018. From 2009 to 2011 he was rector of the theological faculty in Paderborn.

Berthold Wald has three children from his first marriage (1982 to 2001) and has been remarried since 2013.

Act

Wald is a member of the Görres Society (1987) and the Société Internationale pour l'Étude de la Philosophie Médiévale (1992). He has been a member of the German Society for Philosophy since 1995 and was accepted into the German Society for Philosophy of Religion and the Society for Ancient Philosophy in 2002. Since 2000 he has been a member of the advisory board of the Josef Pieper Foundation .

He has published numerous scientific papers and essays and is among other things the editor of the Religious-Philosophical Writings. Wald is considered an expert on Josef Pieper's life's work and is the editor of Josef Pieper's complete works in eight volumes.
