Stefan Krätke

Stefan Krätke (born July 19, 1952 in Trier ) is a German professor for economic and social geography at the European University Viadrina .

Life

Krätke studied architecture , urban planning and urban and regional economics from 1972 to 1978 , first in Dortmund and finally at the TU Berlin . In 1981 he received his doctorate from the Technical University on the subject of municipal social housing in Western European countries with summa cum laude . For ten years until 1990 he worked as a research assistant at the Berlin University of the Arts, specializing in the international comparison of urban renewal . In 1991/1992 he represented Prof. Dieter Läpple at the TU Hamburg-Harburg , before becoming Professor of Planning Economics andUrban development at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences . In 1994 he switched to his chair at the Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) . From 2002 to 2005 he was a corresponding member of the Academy for Spatial Research and Regional Planning, where he headed the Academy's transnational working group Opportunities for EU Eastern Expansion for East Germany . In 2005 he became a full member of the academy. Krätke has also been a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Institute for Regional Development and Structural Planning since 2002.

Since 2001 Krätke has been a member of the Advisory Board of Tijdschrift voor economische en sociale geografie .

Stefan Krätke also works as a scientific advisor for political decision-makers. In 1998 Krätke was appointed to the Advisory Council for Spatial Planning of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Housing , where he was a member of the working groups on the further development of the European Spatial Development Concept ESDP and the regional effects of the EU eastward expansion until 2006. In 2004 he became an external expert for the study commission A Future for Berlin of the Berlin House of Representatives . Since 2006 he has been advising the German Society for Technical Cooperation on regional industrial and cluster policy in the economic and structural reform program of the People's Republic of China .
