Stefan Steiner (artist)

Stefan Steiner (born February 9, 1963 in Steinhausen ZG ) is a Swiss visual artist .

Life

Steiner is a painter and draftsman , his abstract pictures in acrylic or as watercolor belong to gestural color painting. From 1985 to 1988 he graduated from the Lucerne School of Design with Anton Egloff . He has lived in Germany since 1988 . In 1988 he received a further training grant from the Landis & Gyr Foundation . In 1989, 1990 and 1996 he received work grants from the Canton of Zug . From 1988 to 1992 he attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy , where he was a master student of Günther Uecker . In 1995 he was nominated for the Max Pechstein Award . He gave courses at the Art Academy in Münster .

Steiner had several exhibitions in Germany and Switzerland. He has been creating artist books and art book objects since the late 1980s ; these were shown in a retrospective in 2013 in the Kunsthalle Ziegelhütte in Appenzell, for which a catalog volume was published by Verlag Steidl.

He interweaves his art a. a. with music; so he designed studio concerts a. a. with Malika Kishino and Antoine Beuger .
