Stefan Wöber (born August 23, 1964 ) is a former German soccer player.
Career
Wöber comes from the youth of SV Erlenbach in 1919, from which he moved to the youth department of Eintracht Frankfurt . There he won the German A-Junior Championship in 1982 and 1983 alongside Thomas Berthold , Bernhard Trares and Manfred Binz, among others . He also took part with the German U-18 selection team in the U-18 European Championship finals in 1983 , but retired from the preliminary round on the side of Dieter Hecking , Michael Skibbe , Hansi Flick and Hans Dorfner .
After Wöber had played for the amateur team of Eintracht Frankfurt for a time, the Frankfurters placed him as an ambitious player in 1985 at SV Darmstadt 98 , with whom they had signed a cooperation agreement. Young talents from Frankfurt should get a taste of the professional air of Darmstadt. However, Wöber was unable to assert himself during the two years of his contract; he only played a total of 12 games in the 2nd Bundesliga and was no longer an issue for the first division squad of Frankfurt Eintracht.
Wöber therefore moved to Rot-Weiss Frankfurt in the Oberliga Hessen . Under coach Dragoslav Stepanović , the team moved into the DFB-Pokal 1989/90 , where they failed in the first round at SV Waldhof Mannheim . At the end of the season he won the league championship alongside Jürgen Klopp , Alexander Schur , Alexander Caspary and Armin Kraaz and moved into the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga . There the team only picked up one point in the 1-1 draw at the start against 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 , after which all games were lost against SSV Reutlingen 05 and 1. FSV Mainz 05 . He could not confirm the success with the team, but he contributed to qualification for the newly introduced third-rate regional league in 1994 . As bottom of the table, however, the club rose under the coaching duo Caspary and Siegfried Kratz at the end of the season in the fourth division.
After a season for Rot-Weiss Frankfurt in the Oberliga Hessen, Wöber moved to Sportfreunde Seligenstadt in the state league in 1996 . Later he ran for FC Bürgstadt and VfL Mönchberg in the lower class amateur area.
