Stefano Malinverni

Stefano Malinverni (born May 14, 1959 in Cinisello Balsamo ) is a former Italian athlete who specialized in the 400-meter run .

His greatest success was winning the bronze medal in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow . The Italian relay team with Roberto Tozzi , Mauro Zuliani , Stefano Malinverni and Pietro Mennea reached the goal in 3: 04.54 minutes behind the teams of the Soviet Union (3: 01.08 min) and the GDR (3: 01.26 min ). Malinverni also started over 400 m in Moscow, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals.

Malinverni achieved his best results as a single starter at the European Indoor Championships . 1979 in Vienna he won the silver medal behind Karel Kolář in 46.59 s , and in 1981 in Grenoble the bronze medal behind Andreas Knebel and Martin Weppler in 46.96 s . In addition, Malinverni was five times Italian champion in the 400-meter run (1978-1980 outdoors and 1979-1980 indoors).

Stefano Malinverni is 1.80 m and had a competition weight of 73 kg.
