Karel Kolář
Karel Kolář (born December 16, 1955 in Jindřichův Hradec ; † October 4, 2017 ) was a Czechoslovak athlete .
Career
The sprinter started for the LIAZ Jablonec and won a total of eight state championships over 400 and 200 m:

European Athletics Championships 1978 in Prague:
- Silver over 400 m in 45.77 s (personal best time) behind Franz-Peter Hofmeister , who won gold in 45.73 s
- Bronze as the final runner of the Czechoslovak team in the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 03.99 min behind the Federal Republic of Germany (gold in 3: 02.03 min) and Poland (silver in 3: 02.63 min)
- European Indoor Championships 1979 in Vienna : Gold over 400 m in 46.21 s ahead of Italian Stefano Malinverni (silver in 46.59 s)
- European Cup B final 1979 in Karlovac : Winner in 46.17 s
- European Indoor Championships 1980 in Sindelfingen : Silver over 400 m in 46.55 s behind Nikolai Tschernezki (gold in 46.29 s)
At the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow , he took part in the individual competitions over 400 m, but was eliminated in the semifinals. In the 4 x 400 meter relay, he came in seventh place.
