Steffen Bukold

Steffen Bukold (born February 20, 1961 in Göppingen ) is a German political scientist specializing in oil , gas , heating and energy prices .

Life

Bukold studied political science and philosophy as well as public law , English and Scandinavian studies in Heidelberg and Hamburg . In 1989 he completed his studies with a diploma in political science with a thesis on the containerization of the Port of Hamburg .

After several research projects at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg at the chair of Professor Dieter Läpple on the subjects of freight transport , regional economics , mechanical engineering and technology development, he received his doctorate in 1994 - supported by a scholarship from the Hans Böckler Foundation - on the subject of "Combined transport rail / road in Europe". In it he examined the development of new transport systems in an interdisciplinary path analysis .

Until 2005, Bukold researched and worked in the Netherlands ( TNO Delft and Panteia / NEA Rijswijk ), France ( Ecole nationale des ponts et chausées , Institut nationale de recherche sur les transports et leur sécurité ) and Belgium ( European Commission ) on the main topics of transport, Infrastructure and financial markets . He advised ministries, companies and European institutions in Western and Northern Europe. From 1994 to 1998 he was project manager at the European Center for Infrastructure Studies in Rotterdam , a European think tank for European transport and energy networks (TEN).

After publishing several specialist publications on the topic of crude oil , Bukold founded the research and consulting office EnergyComment in Hamburg in 2008, with a focus on the interdisciplinary and international comparative analysis of the topics of oil, gas, energy price developments, heating markets and long-term questions of energy supply. He advises politics on questions of the energy transition and energy supply of the future.

Since 2009 he has published the international bi-weekly publication Global Energy Briefing '.

In recent years, Bukold has become known as an interview partner and publicist in national newspapers, magazines and television. He has lived in Hamburg since 2005.
