Steffen Dietzsch

Steffen Dietzsch (born August 21, 1943 in Chemnitz , Saxony) is a German historian of philosophy and essayist. He teaches philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin and at the University of Leipzig and has been Managing Director of the Kondylis Institute for Cultural Analysis and Alteration Research at the Distance University in Hagen since 2006 .

Life

After studying philosophy at the University of Leipzig (1965–1973), he was a research assistant at the Central Institute for Philosophy at the Berlin Academy of Sciences , in the Philosophical Editions section, and then between 1983 and 1990 its director. In autumn 1989 Dietzsch was appointed professor at the academy. From 1991 to 1993 he worked on the DFG project "Kant's Office Activities" at the Philipps University of Marburg . From 1993 to 1998 Dietzsch was Professor of Philosophy at the Chair for Practical Philosophy ( Kurt Röttgers ) at the Institute for Philosophy at the FernUniversität Hagen, then until 2002 collaboration on the DFG project “Philosophy and Philosophical Faculty zu Königsberg 1770-1870” at the Chair for Practical Philosophy ( Volker Gerhardt ) from the Humboldt University in Berlin . In the 2001/2002 fall semester, Steffen Dietzsch became the first Fellow-in-Residence of the Friedrich Nietzsche College in Weimar and, on the occasion of the ten-year foundation of the Nietzsche College, Jubilee Fellow in fall 2009.

Dietzsch works in particular on Kant and German idealism , early romanticism and modern cultural philosophy . His philosophical interest includes in particular:

  1. the validity of the transcendental principle and its cultural-historical impact in modern times as well
  2. the philosophical Christology , which unfolds with the beginning of German idealism up to Nietzsche.
