Steffen Kammler
Steffen Kammler (born May 6, 1965 in Calbe (Saale) ) is a conductor . He has been a Norwegian citizen since 2008 .
Life
From 1975 to 1983, Kammler was a member of the Dresden Kreuzchor under Martin Flämig . From 1990 to 1997 he was conductor of the Josquin des Préz chamber choir in Leipzig, named after Josquin Desprez .
After studying choir and orchestra conducting at the music academies in Weimar and Leipzig , he was initially engaged at the opera houses in Halle and Hamburg . In 2001 he went to Norway as the choir director of the Norwegian National Opera , a position he held until 2009. Since then he has worked as a freelance conductor and as a conducting teacher, including since 2008 as the conductor of the Norwegian oratorio choir Cæciliaforeningen and as a visiting professor at Shaoxing University in China .
