Karina Türr (also: Katja Marina Türr or Karina Türr-Menning ) (born July 28, 1942 in Wuppertal-Elberfeld ; † November 21, 2016 in Großburgwedel ) was a German art historian , author, editor , retired university professor and gallery owner .

Life

Years of learning and apprenticeship

Karina Türr received her doctorate in 1971 from the University of Cologne with a dissertation on a group of muses from Hadrian times. The so-called Thespiaden and completed his habilitation in 1977 at the Philosophical Faculty of the same university on the subject of the reception of antiquities in French sculpture of the 19th and early 20th centuries .

As a professor, Türr taught art history at the University of Duisburg , the University of Cologne and the University of Erlangen , while doing extensive research on the art forms of realism .

Sculpture Forum Isernhagen

In her retirement , the professor emeritus expanded her parents' home in Isernhagen into the Gallery Sculpture Forum Isernhagen . There she presented sculptures by the Berlin artist and professor couple Christa Biederbick and Karlheinz Biederbick , as well as younger artists.

In the park-like garden, visitors to the gallery will find works by the Hanoverian sculptor Ulrike Enders , wooden sculptures by Peter Nettesheim or works by Birgid Helmy .

Katarina Türr also presented works by Inge Therese Dietrich, Ludmilla Seefried-Matejkova, Eva Maria Lankes and Guido Messer to visitors to her gallery for the finissage under the title “The 68ers turned 70” .

The art historian and gallery owner Karina Türr had distributed a large-format invitation to Conversazione in Giardino - conversations in the garden , which took place in her gallery on the 17th of each month from 5:00 p.m. and offered lectures “and discussions about art and art history”. Türr died in 2016 at the age of 74.
