Guido Messer (born January 20, 1941 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ) is a German sculptor.

Life

education

Messer completed an apprenticeship in goldsmithing in Pforzheim from 1958 to 1961 and then attended the art and craft school in Pforzheim with J. Weber until 1966. From 1966 to 1971 he studied sculpture at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart with the teachers Herbert Baumann and KRH Sonderborg and an apprenticeship as an art caster.

In 1982 he received a scholarship from the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg and another from the State of Baden-Württemberg at the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris in 1982/83 .

activity

From 1970 to 1982 he worked as a handicraft teacher and sculptor. He has been working as a freelance artist since 1983 and became a member of the Association of Visual Artists Baden-Württemberg. He works and lives in Korb near Stuttgart and in the Tuscan towns of Pietrasanta and Sassetta . Since 1993 he has been a member of the Artists' Association in Germany .

Messer is married and has two children.

Guido Messer exhibited his works at home and abroad. In Germany, among others, in Weikersheim (2009), in Landau in the Palatinate (2009 and 2014) or in Herrenberg (2008). In Switzerland his works were shown in Bad Ragaz at the 4th Swiss Triennial of Sculpture or in 1999 in the Vienna Forum Spittelberg .

Since 2000 he has been working with Marta Messer on the "arte e sapori" sculpture park project in Sassetta / Tuscany. Since 2006 he has also been the curator of the sculpture tour "Heads on the Korber Kopf" with sculptures that change every year, including his own works.
