Birgid Helmy (* 1957 in Wiesbaden ) is a German sculptor .

Life

Birgid Helmy first studied social pedagogy with a focus on theater pedagogy at the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences and supplemented this course with further training in art therapy . In 1995 she began studying sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Mainz with Christa Biederbick . Between 1995 and 1999, she worked several times at the Sculpture Academy in Carrara near Pietrasanta in Italy. In 2001 she received a scholarship from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and in 2002 became a master student of Christa Biederbick.

Birgid Helmy mainly creates three-dimensional sculptures for small and large rooms. From 2002 to 2006 she was involved in the socio-cultural project More Democracy and Tolerance in Wiesbaden.

Birgid Helmy lives and works in Wiesbaden and Eltville on the Rhine .
