Steffen Lachmann

Steffen Lachmann (born August 30, 1962 ) is a former German soccer player. In the 1980s he played for Dynamo Dresden and Stahl Riesa in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . Lachmann is a GDR junior and young national player.

Athletic career

At the age of eight, Steffen Lachmann was accepted into the SG Dynamo Dresden children's team. As a junior player , he was appointed to the squad of the GDR junior national team in 1980 and played eight international junior matches until 1981, in which he was mainly used as a defender.

Dynamo Dresden took the 1.76 m tall Lachmann on in the 1980/81 season in the squad of the junior league team . However, he was already used as a defender in the first three league games of the league team and was also used in four other league games at the end of the season. He then officially moved up to the top division squad for the 1981/82 season, but was only able to complete one top division match due to a meniscus injury. 1982/83 he made a new attempt to start in the 1st team of Dynamo, but had to give up injured in the third mission on the 4th matchday. Before that, he had played an international match with the GDR youth national team . At the beginning of the 1983/84 season Dynamo Dresden announced that Lachmann had ended his career in competitive sports.

During the 1982/83 season Lachmann had joined the third-rate district division BSG Empor Tabak Dresden . He helped the BSG to rise to the GDR league that season, where Lachmann played nine of twenty-two point games in the 1983/84 season and scored one goal.

After the BSG Empor was relegated to the district league again after only one season, Lachmann made another attempt in the upper league and switched to BSG Stahl Riesa. But after only one half-time assignment on the 1st match day of the 1984/85 season, the National People's Army thwarted his plans and drafted him in November 1984 for an 18-month military service. After the end of his army service in April 1986, Lachmann returned to Stahl Riesa where he played his last league game with a duration of 66 minutes on the last day of the 1985/86 season. After that he no longer appeared in the higher football leagues.
