Just one kilometer to the east is a mountain of the same name , which has similar landscapes.

flora

The top of the mountain is forested and forms the southern foothills of the Oberwald . The predominant species are birch , wild pear and quivering poplar . The soil flora is made up of rennets , bilberries , hawkweeds , field clover , pechnelke and spring cinquefoil .

use

The first basalt quarry was built here as early as the 19th century, where stones and gravel were extracted for building houses. After the quarry was closed, it ran full of water and was overgrown by plants. The dense vegetation now offers many bird species a nesting place.

The shallow slopes of the mountain are used for agricultural purposes.
