Vegetative characteristics
The saxifrage cinquefoil is a perennial herbaceous plant . The "root stock" is woody and somewhat branched. It grows cushion-forming. The 15 to 20, rarely up to 30 centimeter high stem protrudes from the basal leaf rosette and is richly glandular and hairy close-fitting. The leaves are fingered three or five times. The leathery, coarse leaves have three unequal teeth at the tip and are green on the top and white-silvery hairy on the underside. Its edge is curved down and not eyelashed.
Generative characteristics
The flowering period extends from May to June. The saxifrage cinquefoil has five to twelve flowers. The hermaphroditic flowers are radial symmetry . The outer calyx is shorter than the calyx teeth. The petals clearly rise above the calyx. The free petals are white. The stamens are bare. The styles are permanent, at least their lower half is hairy. The fruits are long hairy.
