Steinebrunn is a village in the political municipality of Egnach in the Arbon district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland .
geography
Steinebrunn is located on the main road Amriswil - Neukirch (Egnach) - Arbon and has a train station on the St. Gallen – Romanshorn railway line of the Südostbahn .
history
The settlement was first mentioned in 1302 as a Staibrunnen . The Widumhof Steinebrunn was the Martins parish Arbon tenth of charge . Steinebrunn belonged to the Arbon court , from 1544 to the Egnach court, which until 1798 was administered by the episcopal superior bailiff for the Constance monastery .
The Gallus Chapel from the 13th century was closed from the Reformation until 1674, when mass was read again. In 1743 the Bishop of Constance allowed the formation of a chaplaincy . In 1872 the parish was founded and in 1925 the Catholic parish church St. Gallus was built on the Winzelnberg.
In addition to fruit and wine growing, arable farming was carried out in the three-row system , and in the 19th century there was increased cattle and dairy farming - with a cheese dairy from 1864. Steinebrunn has a train station on the Bodensee-Toggenburg Railway, which opened in 1910 . The chemical company Radix AG was founded in 1929 on the site of the canning factory opened in 1912. Embroidery Bickel & Co., founded in 1912, employed 41 people in 1975. In 2007 Alibona AG built a cheese ripening center for 1530 tons of cheese. From 1970 onwards, new single-family house quarters were created.
