Johannes Richard Bogner

Johannes Richard Bogner (born February 5, 1960 in Munich ) is a German doctor , professor and head of the Clinical Infectious Disease Section at the Medical Clinic and Polyclinic IV (Inner City Campus) of the University Hospital in Munich .

Life

Bogner studied medicine ( internal medicine , gastroenterology and pulmonology ) and clinical infectious diseases at the Montefiore Medical Center of the Albert Einstein Medical School in New York in Munich .

Since 1986 he has played a key role in setting up the infection department in Munich with an outpatient clinic and day clinic. Since 1997 he has built up an interdisciplinary clinical-infectious consultation service at the Medical Polyclinic of the University Hospital in Munich. Bogner has lectured on clinical infectious diseases since 1994 and was appointed professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 2001. Since 2006 he has been head of the Clinical Infectious Disease Section at the University Hospital Munich. In 2014, the clinic-wide interdisciplinary working group on infectious diseases "i-KUM" was founded and managed as the basis for the introduction of an antibiotic stewardship program .

Bogner is also authorized to train at the State Medical Association for Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine. Since 2012 he has been the editor of the specialist journal Infection and since 2018 co-editor of the Münchner Medizinische Wochenschrift - progress in medicine . He is also the author of numerous specialist publications, leads specialist colloquiums and gives lectures at international conferences.

In 2018 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for his voluntary commitment to the prevention, prophylaxis and therapy of HIV infection as well as the associated support for AIDS help and other organizations .

Scientific focus

Bogner's scientific focus is on the immunology and therapy of HIV infection, the clinical testing of anti-infectives including antibiotics and antimycotics. The scientific focus is on the three areas of "cell-mediated immunity in lymphoid tissue in HIV infection", "clinical studies with anti-infectives" and "epidemiological multicenter studies".
