The Steinküppel is 746 m above sea level. NHN high elevation in the Rhön in the area of the Wildflecken military training area . The striking rock bar rises only about 20 m from the southern slope of the Dammersfeldkuppe . The Steinküppel is a good vantage point, but civilians are usually not allowed to enter it because it is in a restricted military area . In some years the Steinküppel is only open to the public on the people's hiking days on the last weekend in July.
