The name Steinknippen is based on the old tub designation Am Steinklippen , which is recorded in the original cadastre southeast of Torringen in the area of today's street.
etymology
The defining word stone indicates the stony nature of the soil. The basic word knipp denotes a small elevation in the dialect along a path that soon falls away again. A nip can also be the highest point of a steep climb.
