Flachsberg is a district in the Paffrath district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The late medieval settlement name Flachsberg is first documented in 1453 as tzo dem Vlasberge . Up until the early modern period , a small hamlet developed from the establishment of the settlement , which had eight farms around 1790. The Am Flachsberg settlement is recorded in the original cadastre in the area of today's Flachsberg road .
etymology
The name corresponded to the former agricultural use of the area with flax cultivation . Linseed oil is obtained from the seeds of flax . The stalks of the flax provide fibers for the production of linen . Flax cultivation was widespread until the 19th century.
