Steinmannwald (also Steinmannwald in Laives , Italian Pineta di Laives ) is with since and St. Jacob , one of the three factions of the South Tyrolean municipality of Laives in Italy .

geography

The fraction lies north of Laives and is divided into two settlements: the oldest, where the church, the theater, the elementary school and several shops are, is the Steinmannwald-Zentrum ; the new settlement is called Steinmannwald-Berg . The village is traversed by the Süßenbach, which drains the Süßenbachtal over the Landgraben into the Etsch .

history

The place name is more recent and can be traced back to the historic Hof Steinmann, which is attested in 1764 as "Stainmanhof zu Leifers" and in 1795 as "Stainmannhof zu Leifers" , when the district was administratively part of Leifers. The Italian form of pineta was not formed until the post-war period.

Structurally, the place owes its development primarily to the 1950s and 1960s, when the demographic pressure from Laives led to the construction of new housing estates here.

From 1959 to 1993, the main branch of the Schulze-Pollmann piano factory was located in Steinmannwald .
