The hamlet of Steinsee is a district of Hohenstein in the Nordhausen district .

geography

The hamlet of Steinsee is located two kilometers south-east of the village of Liebenrode , which is also the municipal authority for the hamlet. On a local connecting road, the residents reach Liebenrode and Landesstraße 2062, via which there is a connection to the surrounding area. Between Steinsee and Liebenrode in the valley between Helme - and Wiedatal lie some sinkhole lakes of the Harz karst landscape.

history

The Steinsee settlement was first mentioned in a document on February 15, 1287. Steinsee was incorporated into Liebenrode on July 1, 1950 and then taken over with this place in the municipality of Hohenstein. The manor in the village belongs to the Linsenhoff family again and is now used as a summer residence and holiday home.

After the former "Theuerkauf-Haus" opposite the manor was demolished in summer 2016, there were only 6 permanently inhabited houses in Steinsee. As a result of a new building in the meantime, Steinsee has again owned 7 houses since 2018, which are constantly inhabited.

Culture

The Stietzelfest is organized by the residents of Steinsee every year on Ascension Day , which derives its name from the pasta (Stietzel) that is sold at this festival and is coated with plum jam.
