Career

Malezas played Katerini in his youth in his hometown. At the age of 18, the Macedonian moved from AEP Katerini to the Greek top club PAOK Thessaloniki . In his first year he was not used there and was loaned to third division club Irodotos Irakleiou in Crete for a year , where he gained experience as a regular in 30 games this season.

Back at PAOK Thessaloniki, it took another three years before he became an integral part of the first division team from 2008 . He did not play in midfield as before, but in central defense. After a successful season in 2009/10 , in which his club took third place in the championship, Malezas also moved into the focus of Otto Rehhagel , the then coach of the national team . At the end of February 2010 he was invited to a preparatory game for the 2010 Soccer World Cup . Although he was not used, he was on June 1, 2010 in the 23-man squad of the Greeks for the World Cup in South Africa.

On July 30, 2012, he moved with a two-year contract for a transfer fee of 450,000 euros to Bundesliga promoted Fortuna Düsseldorf , which should increase by 50,000 euros in the event of Fortuna staying up . His competitive debut for Fortuna Düsseldorf, in whose squad Malezas is used as a defender, he completed in the 1-0 win in the DFB Cup against Wacker Burghausen . Shortly afterwards, his first appearance in the Bundesliga followed on matchday 1 in a 2-0 win in the away game against FC Augsburg .

After the 2013/14 season he left Fortuna, returned to Greece to Panetolikos Agrinio and rejoined his old club PAOK Thessaloniki in August 2015 . There he won the cup three times in a row and the championship in 2019. He then moved on to league rivals AO Xanthi .
