Type ship under construction

The Stena Searunner class is a series of RoRo ships that was developed for the Swedish shipping company Stena Line at the end of the 1970s . The design was built in eleven units at the South Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries and used by various shipping companies. The series is one of the most successful designs in this type of ship.

details

The Stena Transporter

The ships are designed as RoRo ships with an aft deckhouse and ice class . The ships have a ro-ro ramp arranged aft, but no loading gear . The design was commissioned by the Swedish Stena Line at the ship engineering office Knud E. Hansen in Copenhagen.

All ships were rebuilt in the course of their careers, most of them several times. The conversions included various areas, such as lengthening, widening, elevation and the expansion of passenger capacity.

The propulsion of the ships consists of two twelve-cylinder, four-stroke diesel engines in a V arrangement of the Pielstick 12PC25V type manufactured by Nippon Kokan under license . The power of the propulsion system was designed from the beginning to enlarge the ships. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by bow thrusters . Some of the ships were equipped with fin stabilizers or retrofitted.
