The Stena Superfast VII is a RoPax ferry operated by the Swedish Stena Line between Belfast and Cairnryan .

history

The ship was built in 2001 in Kiel at Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft for Superfast Ferries . In 2006 it passed to its new owner Tallink and has been chartered to Stena Line since 2011 .

The Stena Superfast VII was the first of four ships in her class to be ordered from HDW in 1998, together with her sister ship Superfast VIII . The launch took place on November 18, 2000 and it was handed over to its owner on May 8, 2001. On May 17, 2001 it started operations between Rostock and Hanko . On November 12, 2004, the Superfast VII was badly damaged in a storm in the port of Hanko. On November 14, 2004, the ship went to the Luonnonmaan Telakka shipyard in Naantali . On November 27, 2004, it was finally able to resume operations.

On March 21, 2006 Superfast Ferries sold the entire Baltic Sea operations with the ships Superfast VII , Superfast VIII and Superfast IX to Tallink . The route was changed on April 17, 2006, since then the Estonian port of Paldiski has also been called . But since there were problems with the port operators, the route was changed back to Hanko-Rostock in June. From 1 January 2007 the ship finally sailed the route Helsinki -Rostock and from 14 January, the Tallinn-Helsinki route-Rostock. Due to rising fuel costs and falling passenger numbers, the route was changed back to Helsinki-Rostock at the end of 2008, as was one of the three ships on this route, the Superfast IX chartered to Marine Atlantic. Since then, only the ships Superfast VII and Superfast VIII have been used here. From January to the end of April 2010 the ships were laid up in Tallinn, after which they resumed service. On December 29th and 30th, 2010 Superfast VII replaced the Superstar on the Tallinn-Helsinki route because of a stay at the shipyard.

In March 2010, Stena Line announced that it would charter the Superfast VII and Superfast VIII . The ships have been in service on the Belfast - Cairnryan route since November 21, 2011. In December 2017, both Tallink / Baltic SF VII ferries were handed over to Stena North Sea after they had already been sold in July.
