Stephan Debeur (* 1965 in Aachen ) is a German organist and church musician.

Life

From 1972 to 1976 Debeur attended the Aachen Cathedral Singing School , from 1975 to 1978 he was a member of the Aachen Cathedral Choir . 1985–1993 he studied church and school music at the Folkwang University in Essen. His teachers included Gisbert Schneider and Sieglinde Ahrens (organ) and Godehard Joppich ( Gregorian chant ).

From 1986 to 1999 he was organist at the Catholic Church of St. Nikolaus in Aachen , and from 1992 also a church musician at the parish church of St. Michael in Aachen-Burtscheid. As a church musician in St. Michael, he was also responsible for the disposition of the Weimbs organ, which was inaugurated in 1999 . 1993-1999 he directed the Choralschola Vivus Cantus Aachen, which he co-founded . In 2000, Debeur in the Upper Swabian vineyard , where he has to succeed Heinrich Hamm as a church musician and organist of the Basilica of St. Martin operates. In this role he plays the Gabler organ in Weingarten, one of the most famous baroque organs in the world, regularly at church services and as part of organ concerts. He also recorded several CDs on the Gabler organ. From 2012-2013 he played a work by Bach and symphonic organ music from the 19th and 20th centuries at the Rieger organ of the St. Jodok Church in Ravensburg.

Debeur directs the basilica choir Weingarten and the children's choir of the basilica that he founded. He is the deanery church musician of the church music district of Ravensburg in the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese . He also taught at the Weingarten grammar school.
