Stephan Maass (born June 22, 1967 in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe ) is a German percussionist , producer and university teacher.

biography

Maass has been dealing with all areas of percussion since 1982 . He played in school bands, took second place at the 2nd international drummer meeting in Koblenz in 1984 and performed in the Hugo Strasser dance orchestra at the age of 18 . Since 1989 he has been working as a professional musician. With his wife, the singer Elfi Aichinger , he released the album Kiss the Frog in 1993 on Extraplatte ; on the same label followed in 1997 under his name Time Out . His spectrum ranges from jazz productions with Colin Towns and the NDR Big Band to Austropop such as Austria 3 , Rainhard Fendrich and Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung to electronic acts such as Kruder & Dorfmeister .

As a producer he worked for record companies such as Universal Music , Sony BMG , etc. He also played at drum festivals such as the Meinl Drum Festival or Superdrumming Gmunden / Austria .

Maass teaches percussion as a major at the Jazz Department (JIM) of the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz ( Austria ).
