Stephan Meyer (legal scholar)

Stephan Meyer (* 1971 in Speyer ) is a German law and political scientist and university professor .

Life

Meyer graduated from high school in 1990 . From 1992 up to and including 2004 he was an officer in the Bundeswehr . He studied political science at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich, majoring in public law and administrative science . He completed his studies there in 1998, initially with a degree in political science. In 2004 he received his doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. with the dissertation Public Welfare Mission and Federal Approval Requirement - An Antinomy of the Constitution? Dogmatic investigation into the failure of a legislative resolution in the Federal Council according to Article 78 of the Basic Law .

In 2004 Meyer switched to Arno Scherzberg's newly founded political science faculty at the University of Erfurt as a research assistant . There he completed his habilitation in 2010 with the habilitation thesis Legal Validity as Binding . He then worked as a private lecturer with Venia Legendi for public law, legal theory and administrative science and represented chairs at the universities of Berlin , Frankfurt (Oder) , Cologne , Leipzig , Münster and at the German Police University . He was also head of the department at the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment in Berlin.

In 2016 Meyer was appointed professor for public law, in particular local and environmental law, in the business, computer science and law faculty of the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau and continues to teach as an adjunct professor in the field of public law at the political science faculty of the University of Erfurt.
