Stephan Moccio

Stephan Moccio (born October 20, 1972 in St. Catharines , Ontario ) is a Canadian musician and composer .

Life

Moccio studied piano at the University of Western Ontario . He decided against further studies at Berklee College of Music and accepted an offer from Sony Music as a session musician and composer. During his time at Sony he composed for Celine Dion and Sarah Brightman, among others . In 2003 he left Sony Music and worked independently, with Seal and Josh Groban , among others . His compositions include Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus and A New Day Has Come by Celine Dion. In 2012 he was a jury member for Canada's Got Talent . He was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Song ( Earned It ) in 2015 for his work on the soundtrack for Fifty Shades of Gray .
