Stephan Pauly (cultural manager)

Stephan Pauly (* 1972 in Cologne ) is the artistic director and managing director of the Alte Oper concert hall in Frankfurt am Main . From 2004 to 2012 he was commercial director and head of the artistic department of the International Mozarteum Foundation .

Life

Pauly grew up in Bayreuth and studied philosophy and theology as well as theater and opera directing in Munich and Rome . After completing his studies in 1999, he worked, among other things, in Bavarian broadcasting . Pauly also worked as August Everding's personal assistant at the Prinzregententheater in Munich, as well as at the Vienna State Opera and La Scala in Milan .

He was in 2002 Salzburg commercial director and artistic director of the Mozarteum Foundation . In March 2012 Pauly took over the management of the Alte Oper Frankfurt from Michael Hocks . Since April 2019 Pauly has been designated as the successor to Thomas Angyan as director of the Wiener Musikverein .
