Stephanuskirche Oberlosa

The Protestant Stephanuskirche Oberlosa is a baroque choir tower church in the Oberlosa district of Plauen in the Vogtlandkreis in Saxony . It belongs to the Protestant Stephanus church community of Plauen in the Plauen church district of the Evangelical Lutheran regional church of Saxony and is known for its baroque organ.

History and architecture

The baroque church was built in the years 1782–1786 in place of an older church and restored in 1843 and 1933. The building is a plastered building with a slate hipped roof. The choir tower is built on a square floor plan with rounded edges and is closed off by an eight-sided dome with a lantern . The wall surfaces are structured with pilasters , overhangs and window parapets. Inside there are two-storey galleries on the north and south sides, and boxes are built into the choir.

Furnishing

organ

The furnishings mostly date from the time it was built and consist of a pulpit altar , a wooden baptism from 1894 in a slim vase shape on an octagonal base and the baroque organ. The original font from 1759 is now in the church of Tirpersdorf in the Vogtland district.

organ

The organ is a work by Johann Gottlob Trampeli from the years 1784–1788 with 23 stops on two manuals and pedal . In 1834 it was overhauled by Johann Gottlob Mende . In 1843 the bellows were in defective condition and there was a loss of wind, as well as a dirty and out of tune pipework. In 1844, Carl Wolf from Plauen carried out repairs, cleaning and re-tuning. Further repairs from the years 1868 and 1875 were not carried out. In 1917 the prospect pipes of the two large side fields were given for war purposes. In 1930 Ernst Poppe removed the original keyboards and installed new keyboards with rocker arms. In 1932 the organ was cleaned by Poppe and zinc prospect pipes were installed. An Aeoline 8 ′ was added on an auxiliary pneumatic drawer. The pipes of the highest choir were also taken from the mixture of the main work. After water damage, the organ was no longer playable from around 1960. In 1985/1986 it was restored by Jehmlich Orgelbau Dresden and returned to its original condition. The disposition is:
