Stephen Philip "Steve" Jordan (born January 15, 1919 in New York City , † September 13, 1993 ) was an American jazz guitarist of swing and mainstream jazz .

Jordan studied with Allan Reuss and was in Will Bradley's orchestra from 1939 to 1941 , with Artie Shaw in 1941/42 , with Teddy Powell in 1952 , served in the US Navy during World War II and played with Bob Chester , Freddie Slack , the after the war Casa Loma Orchestra (from 1945), Stan Kenton (1948), Jimmy Dorsey and Boyd Raeburn (1949). 1950 to 1952 he was a studio musician with NBC and 1953 to 1956 with Benny Goodman . He has recorded with Gene Krupa , Mel Powell , Vic Dickenson , Charles Thompson , Buck Clayton , Ruby Braff , Benny Goodman, Wild Bill Davison , Clancy Hayes , Buddy Tate , Helen Ward , Ed Polcer and Boyd Raeburn , among others .

He is not to be confused with the drummer Steve Jordan (* 1957).
