Steven Pressfield (born September 1, 1943 in Port of Spain , Trinidad ) is an American novelist and screenwriter .

Life

Pressfield made his breakthrough as a writer in 1995 with The Legend of the Bagger Vance . The story is based on the Bhagavad Gita , a central script of Hinduism. In 2000 the novel was filmed as The Legend of Bagger Vance with Matt Damon and Will Smith in the lead roles.

Pressfield also wrote several novels about ancient Greece .
