Steven Severin (born September 25, 1955 in London ), real name Steven John Bailey, is a British bass guitarist , composer and journalist .

Together with Siouxsie Sioux , he founded the band Siouxsie and the Banshees in 1976 , for which he wrote lyrics and played bass . He was also a member of The Glove project with Robert Smith . Today Severin composes film music (including for the horror film London Voodoo ) and works as a music producer and journalist. Severin names Velvet Underground , Roxy Music , The Stooges , David Bowie , Kraftwerk , Captain Beefheart , Gavin Bryars and Nino Rota as his greatest musical influences .

He has been married to the Texan actress Arban Ornelas since October 2nd, 2002. The couple have a daughter and formed the so far less successful band Darling Hate .
