Steven Zweigler (born November 26, 1966 ) is a former German soccer player who played as a striker .

Athletic career

Zweigler first played in the 2nd team of the BSG Wismut Aue , with which he won the title in the Karl-Marx-Städter District League in 1985 and, after successfully completing the promotion round in 1985/86, entered the second-class league . In the season 1987/88 , the offensive force was used for the first time in the GDR Oberliga in four games and one game each in the FDGB Cup and in the UEFA Cup . After Zweigler was not used in the preliminary round of the following first division season with the Violets , he stormed for the BSG activist Borna after the league start in 1989 . With his teammates, however, he could not prevent relegation to the district league .

In the winter of 1989/90 Zweigler returned to Aue and thus to the highest GDR league. He became part of that Bismut-Elf, which had to start the bitter path to the second division after 38 seasons of uninterrupted membership in the first division at the end of the 1989/90 season . In the seasons NOFV-Liga Staffel B 1990/91 and Oberliga Nordost Staffel Süd 1991/92 , which marked the transition to the all-German league system for the Saxons, Zweigler was one of the regular players in the attack of FC Wismut Aue. In 1992 he moved to Chemnitzer FC in the 2nd Bundesliga , where he also acted as a regular in three of his four seasons, but was no longer used in 1995/96. In the summer of 1996 Zweigler returned to his former club, which has been operating as FC Erzgebirge Aue since 1993, in the Regionalliga Nordost , where the striker was under contract with the first team for four years. At the end of his sporting career, he ran again for the 2nd team of the Wismut successor, including in the State League Saxony .
