Steven van Heerden (born August 6, 1993 in Kempton Park ) is a South African cyclist .

Athletic career

At the age of 13, Steven van Heerden started spinning and got into cycling; he was also active as a show jumper and rugby player. He won his first national championship in cycling in the single pursuit . His role model is Daryl Impey , his favorite discipline is two-man team driving .

In 2015 van Heerden became South African team pursuit champion together with Jac-Johann Steyn , Jared Poulton and Jean Spies , and the following year he won the single pursuit title.

In 2017, Steven van Heerden was four-time African champion : in the one-man pursuit, in the points race , in the team pursuit (with Nolan Hoffman , Jean Spies and Joshua van Wyk ) and together with Hoffman in the two-man team race.
