Stewart McInnes

Stewart Donald McInnes , PC , QC (born July 24, 1937 in Halifax , Nova Scotia ; † October 3, 2015 ) was a Canadian politician of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada , who was a member of the House of Commons between 1984 and 1988 and was temporarily a minister.

Life

Stewart Donald McInnes was after a study of the law as a lawyer involved and was for his services to the Crown Counsel (Queen's Counsel) appointed. In the House of Commons election on September 4, 1984 , he was elected for the first time as a member of the House of Commons in the Halifax constituency with 18,779 votes . In the 24th cabinet of Prime Minister Brian Mulroney , he took on various government offices and was initially Parliamentary State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Trade between November 1, 1984 and August 19, 1985. He then served as Minister of Utilities and Services between August 20, 1985 and June 20, 1988, and then as Minister of Public Works from June 30, 1986 to December 7, 1988. In the meantime, he was acting Minister for Utilities and Services from February 3 to March 30, 1988. As a minister, he also became a member of the Canadian Privy Council .

In the general election on November 21, 1988 McInnes was able to improve his result in the Halifax constituency to 19,840 votes, but nevertheless missed the return to the lower house. He then worked again as a lawyer.
