Architecture and history

The two-storey half - timbered house was built in the last third of the 16th century. The throats and the carved wooden feet come from this period . In 1685 the house was rebuilt according to a building inscription. The portal and a baroque profile plank were added here. In addition, the compartments were provided with decorative brickwork. In 1982/83 the building was partially reconstructed. The facade of the first floor was retained in its version from 1685 and the younger shutters. On the upper floor, the only partially preserved fan rosettes were added and the parapets were restored. The facade was thus returned to its original design from the 16th century. During the work it turned out that the timber used in the house originally came from another building and had been reused when the house was built. Two apartments were set up in the house.

As early as 1981, after the courtyard buildings were demolished , a pigeon tower , which originally stood in the courtyard of the Steinweg 18 building, was moved into the courtyard of the Stieg 29 property due to the existing threat to its structural fabric. In part, the tower is also assigned to the property of the Old Klopstock.
