The Foundation Benedictus Gotthelf Teubner Leipzig / Dresden / Berlin / Stuttgart (short: Teubner Foundation) was founded on February 21, 2003 in the House of Books in Leipzig , on Gutenbergplatz.
Foundation purpose
The Teubner Foundation keeps the memory of the work of the successful Saxon company founder, publishing bookseller, printer, typographer and Leipzig city council Benedictus Gotthelf Teubner alive in the public consciousness.
The purpose of the foundation is to promote science and research in the sense of BG Teubner.
Prices
The foundation has been awarding the Benedictus Gotthelf Teubner Prize since 2004 . So far, the winners are:
- 2004: Albrecht Beutelspacher (Mathematikum Gießen)
- 2005: Leipzig Student Society for Mathematics (LSGM)
- 2009: Mathematical student society "Leonhard Euler" (MSG) at the Humboldt University in Berlin
- 2010: Adventure Land Mathematics (joint project of the Department of Mathematics / TU Dresden and the Technical Collections Dresden)
- 2011: Adam-Ries-Bund Annaberg-Buchholz
- 2012: Mathematical journal Die Wurzel in Jena
- 2015: Urania Berlin e. V.
- 2018: Gauss Society e. V. Göttingen
On the 200th anniversary of the company's founding by BG Teubner in Leipzig on February 21, 1811, during the annual meeting of the Teubner Foundation on February 21, 2011 in the Leibniz lecture hall of the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Natural Sciences Leipzig (formerly Reclam- Company building Inselstrasse 22) awarded the Benedictus Gotthelf Teubner Science Prize to the mathematician Hans Triebel (Friedrich Schiller University Jena).
Since 2014, the foundation has been awarding the Teubner Foundation's Science Prize for the Promotion of Mathematical Sciences . Prize winners:
- 2014: Eberhard Zeidler (Leipzig)
- 2016: Stefan Hildebrandt (1936–2015), posthumously
- 2018: Jürgen Jost (Leipzig)
- 2020: Gerhard Huisken (Tübingen / Oberwolfach)
