Hamburg Monument Preservation Foundation
The Hamburg Monument Preservation Foundation was founded in 1978 by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg .
Task
It is the task of the foundation to acquire buildings of historical significance and to restore them in an exemplary manner . The foundation also awards grants for monument projects ; the financial resources required for this are generated by the company itself. The foundation's projects benefit from the rental income from its own property as well as donations received .
The foundation presents publications on Hamburg's cultural monuments . It is also the organizer of exhibitions , lectures , monument fairs and the Open Monument Day .
The Hamburg Monument Preservation Foundation carries out public relations work with the aim of creating awareness for the preservation of the city's historically evolved appearance.
Projects
The foundation has so far acquired and renovated a number of buildings with outstanding urban history .
Foundation funds flowed into the Bäckerbreitergang , Garten de l'Aigle , Jenischpark , Altona Jewish Cemetery , Stuhlmannbrunnen , Vierländerin-Brunnen as well as into the Hamburg observatory , the Fontenay garden house and the Schiller monument .
Awards
In 2000, the Foundation, together with the National Museum in Warsaw, received the denkmal gold medal for outstanding achievements in the preservation of monuments.
